What are LSZH cables, and why are they becoming more commonly specified?

LSZH stands for Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen – a safer, more environmentally friendly cable sheath material. Unlike traditional PVC cables, LSZH cables produce minimal smoke, zero halogenated gases, and no corrosive acid when exposed to fire.
That means less toxic exposure, better visibility for emergency responders, and less damage to people and equipment in the event of fire. LSZH cables are free from chlorine, fluorine, bromine, and other halogen elements known to form harmful compounds during combustion.

What’s so special about the new LAPP Powerflex LSZH Cable?

It was once true that the electrical and mechanical performance of LSZH cables were inferior to that of their traditional counterparts, but this is far less true today.
