Upgrade to Safety Without Sacrificing Performance
To answer the industry call for more zero-halogen cable options, ECS have developed a range of LSZH cables with our key cable supplier LAPP. Now available ex-stock in both standard drum sizes and custom cut lengths, these cables are ready for immediate use across a wide range of projects.
What are LSZH cables, and why are they becoming more commonly specified?
LSZH stands for Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen – a safer, more environmentally friendly cable sheath material. Unlike traditional PVC cables, LSZH cables produce minimal smoke, zero halogenated gases, and no corrosive acid when exposed to fire.
That means less toxic exposure, better visibility for emergency responders, and less damage to people and equipment in the event of fire. LSZH cables are free from chlorine, fluorine, bromine, and other halogen elements known to form harmful compounds during combustion.
What’s so special about the new LAPP Powerflex LSZH Cable?
It was once true that the electrical and mechanical performance of LSZH cables were inferior to that of their traditional counterparts, but this is far less true today. Built to perform in rough environments - LAPP have developed an enhanced LSZH cable that provides the fire retardant properties of PVC and FEP materials, without reducing flexibility, bend radius, cold temperature capability, or performance.
This cable is also a great fit for Green Star Builds as the cable has no PVC compounds, superseding PVC Best Practice cables and offers contractors another option to meet these project requirements. This is the modern cable alternative for contractors, consultants, and engineers who want next-level safety and reliability.
