AWG (American Wire Gauge) is the US standard that defines the cross-sectional areas and diameters for solid, round electrical wire and is based on the number of dies required to draw down the raw copper to the appropriate size.

Sometimes you need to interconnect devices from a control station to a remote site and traditionally a network cable or fibre cable needs to be trenched between sites and installed in a protective conduit.
